The Center for Women in Government & Civil Society celebrated its 30th Anniversary on September 25, 2008. This landmark event was keynoted by the Honorable Linda Tarr-Whelan, the Center’s Founding Board President, and featured the presentation of the 2008 Women in Public Service Leadership Awards to: Karen Carpenter-Palumbo, Commissioner, NYS OASAS, Janet Colon Sapio-Mayta, Director, 100 Hispanic Women, Capital District Chapter, Carolyn McLaughlin, Majority Leader, Albany Common Council, and Elba Montalvo, Executive Director, the Committee for Hispanic Children and Families.
